### Artist Statement - Tomoko Miyaz
My journey as an artist is deeply intertwined with my multicultural upbringing, split between Japan and Brazil. This duality has shaped my identity, often making me feel like an outsider. Diagnosed with ADHD in 2014, I found clarity in understanding my creative processes and challenges.
Art is my refuge and my voice, allowing me to express complex emotions and everyday observations. My works, primarily digital and mixed media, explore themes of belonging, anxiety, and the essence of daily life. Through my art, I aim to communicate profound feelings and experiences, believing in its power to liberate and connect.
My creative process is intuitive and deeply personal, reflecting my fluctuating self-esteem and acute sensitivity to the emotions of others. I strive to capture the essence of human experience, portraying it with honesty and empathy.
I try my best possible to study multiple medias and make that part of my poetics. I like studying the transparency or fluidity of the materials trying my best to move the audience.
